Snow has started to fall. Trees are being put up. Menorahs are being lit. Ornaments, tinsel, and other decorations have been placed in every nook and cranny. Yes indeed, the holiday season is officially upon us. Around this time of year, along with the usual winter festivities, the world usually sees a massive surge in holiday music. Whether you’re a fan of the classics such as “White Christmas” or “Deck The Halls”, feel-good funny tunes like Adam Sandler’s “The Chanukah Song”, or more modern mega hits like Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, this year we have some new music to add to the playlist.

Based out of Newington, Connecticut, orc metal band ORCumentary is the brainchild of mastermind Orc Adams. Described as comedy inspired melodic metal, their songs are epic, nerdy and funny. Their compositions feature brilliant lyrics, often calling for the downfall of dwarves and elves, accompanied by music heavy enough to make the Dark Lord Sauron himself proud.

ORCumentary’s newest release is a wonderful Christmas EP titled Fully Festive. The project was recorded at Firebeard Studios and Sonic Titan Studios, and was produced, mixed, and mastered by Brian Westbrook at Sonic Titan Studios. The album is composed of two truly special and rocking songs which will guarantee that this year, we won’t be having a “silent night”.

The EP begins with the song “The Time of Christmas Has Come”. Upon pressing play, the listener hears a jolly, whimsical instrumental introduction, before a symphony of keys, brass, horns, and guttural singing crushes down on you like a slam from Thor’s hammer. This song is a twist on their song “The Time of The Orc Has Come”, and it really gives you a taste of ORCumentary’s marvelous essence, with a great holiday spin that you can’t help but grin at and enjoy the journey.

The second song on the EP is an orcish version of “Jingle Bells”. No matter how many times you’ve heard this Christmas staple redone and reimagined, there is no rendition out there that is quite like this. The rumbling drums, beautiful piano work, and commanding, brutal vocals with wickedly mature lyrics work together gloriously. With this song blaring to the sky, and a Santa hat upon your head, you’ll be ready to joyfully ride into battle atop your warg.

Fully Festive is a sweet blast of metal and fun that will leave you yearning to drink eggnog out of the skulls of your enemies. Make sure to check out the link below to explore ORCumentary, buy/stream all of their releases on every major platform, grab some merch, and follow them on social media.
